I updated my grandads server using remote assistance, went to do a restart and i clicked shut down by mistake. The only time i get this is when theres a network issue or the target computer is shutdown or computer name is wrong. I also tried it from a different terminal. If you are getting a message complaining about invalid credentials, then you are getting the point of talking to the server.
