Does the file server have anything logged in the Eventlogs? This logs you in as session 0, which behaves as if you were actually sitting at the machine. I've been having the same problem for weeks and had no idea what the problem was. I'm running two machines on WinXP SP3 32-bit, and suddenly, yesterday, RDP won't connect. I have tried from many machines and even from local virtual machine.
